Boil order lifted at Sleepy Hollow
GILLETTE (AP) - The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday lifted its order advising Sleepy Hollow subdivision residents to boil their water because of E. coli contamination.
But the agency said it would require continued water testing for now.
A water sample taken Tuesday and received by the EPA Thursday morning marked the fifth day of clear tests of the neighborhood's water, according to an EPA e-mail provided by Bret Wolz of Falcon Consulting Services, which monitors the subdivision's water.
Water samples gathered on Aug. 2 had tested positive for fecal coliform, prompting the boil order.
The water is safe to drink and the EPA is still "having testing done to ensure that continues to be the case," said Diane Sipe, Denver EPA program director.
While Falcon can discontinue taking daily total coliform samples, it will need to continue taking two daily chlorine residual samples from Sleepy Hollow's distribution system until notified otherwise.
