Cheyenne's Swede Nelson announces GOP run for U.S. House
CHEYENNE (WTE) -- Cheyenne native Swede Nelson announced Friday that he is running for Wyoming's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Nelson said he wants to end sleaze by raising ethical standards and issues and ending partisanship that borders on hatred.
The seat is held by U.S. Rep. Barbara Cubin of Casper, who has not said whether she will seek an eighth term.
Both Nelson and Cubin are Republicans.
Nelson said he expects Cubin to run, and he will have to challenge her for the Republican nomination. The Republican primary is Aug. 19, and election day is Nov. 4, 2008.
Nelson, 63, said he is announcing early to build name recognition, a volunteer base and donations.
