George H. Kingham
1930-2008
George H. Kingham, 78, died April 28 in Cheyenne.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1930, in Cheyenne to Herb and Lillian Kingham.
Mr. Kingham graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1948 and maintained close ties with many of his classmates, serving on the Class of '48 Reunion Committee.
He attended the University of Wyoming and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
On June 17, 1950, he married Jacqueline Taylor in Cheyenne, and together they had two sons.
Mr. Kingham joined the Wyoming Air National Guard in 1948, beginning a 38-year career during which he served as an aircraft maintenance officer and reached the rank of chief warrant officer, one of the last warrant officers in the Air Force. He took great pride in the quality of the unit and the aircraft they flew. He was called to active duty in 1951 during the Korean War.
Following his retirement in 1985, he and Jackie enjoyed extensive traveling, visiting 38 countries.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Air Force Association, American Legion, University of Wyoming Alumni Association, Cheyenne Quarterback Club and the Cowboy Joe Club.
Mr. Kingham is survived by his wife, Jackie; sons, Ed Kingham of Carson City, Nev., and Dave Kingham of Cheyenne; a sister, Lynn Brannan of Casper; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Lillian Kingham.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Tom Cronkleton officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.
Friends may contribute to Meals on Wheels or The Salvation Army.
