Local first responders reacted to multiple emergency calls in the Albany County area Wednesday afternoon, including a crash that killed two people.

Albany County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 12:30 p.m. of a crash at Herrick Lane involving a single car rollover, Sheriff Aaron Appelhans said. The rollover resulted in two fatalities.

Officers are still investigating the crash, and the identities of the victims have not been released, he said.

Around the same time, the Laramie Fire Department and county fire services responded to a fire at the Laramie city limit near 30th Street, said Chief Dan Johnson said. The fire broke out at a construction site after pieces of fiberglass ignited, causing an estimated $16,000 worth of damage. No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office also responded to a report of a woman who was believed to be stranded on a paddleboard in the middle of Twin Buttes Reservoir. The wind blew the woman to shore and she did not need to be rescued.

It is normal for first responders to deal with multiple emergency calls at the same time, Johnson said.
