Michael Martinez-Montano

Michael Martinez-Montano was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Dec. 17.

A junior at South High, Martinez-Montano is ranked No. 1 in his class. According to the selection committee, he is involved in many extracurricular activities such as National Honor Society, Student Senate, Wyoming Academic Challenge and FBLA.

Martinez-Montano’s teachers nominated him because he demonstrates South’s HERD values of being honorable, respectful, responsible and kind to everyone.

“Michael does his work, tries his best and is involved in and beyond school,” his teachers said. “He strives constantly to be successful. He has been honored in the past by the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne as the Youth of the Year, is very ambitious and has a plan for the future. He is a great representative of South.”

“I believe that receiving this award shows that South has excellent students,” Martinez-Montano said.

After graduation, Martinez-Montano plans to attend college to receive training as a trauma surgeon.
