CHEYENNE – The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office on Friday released the sale notice for the December oil and gas lease sale, which includes 160 parcels totaling about 173,255 acres.
The sale will occur online Dec. 10-11 at www.energynet.com.
The BLM initially analyzed 169 parcels nominated for the sale. Four whole parcels and parts of four others were deleted from the sale list because they are located in areas closed to oil and gas leasing. The BLM plans to defer six whole parcels and parts of two others due to resource conflicts and split another parcel into two separate parcels to comply with BLM policies.
On the recommendation of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the BLM is deferring two whole parcels and portions of another that cross a state-designated mule deer migration corridor. The BLM will include a special lease notice on the one remaining parcel that intersects a designated big game migration corridor. The lease notice will facilitate the use of mitigation measures to protect the corridor’s important wildlife habitat, in keeping with Secretarial Order 3362.
Friday’s publication of the sale notice initiates a 30-day protest period that will close on Nov. 9. The sale notice, environmental review documents and additional information, including protest instructions, are available online at https://go.usa.gov/xVtA9.
All protests must be submitted by mail to the BLM Wyoming State Office, 5353 Yellowstone Road, Cheyenne, WY 82009, or by fax to 307-775-6203.
