CHEYENNE – Cheyenne police arrested two women who led officers on a short, high-speed chase Thursday evening that reached speeds of 100 mph from Central Avenue into south Cheyenne.
Police saw a car with a cracked windshield and tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1900 block of Central Avenue. However, the car didn’t stop and continued southbound on Central Avenue.
Rochelle Martinez, 28, of Laramie was driving the car around 6 p.m. and was arrested on suspicion of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and a windshield violation. These are all misdemeanor charges.
The passenger in the car was identified as Michelle Quiles, 39, of Cheyenne, and she had warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply.
The pursuit ended because the car bottomed out, which nearly destroyed the vehicle, and Martinez almost drove the car head-on into another vehicle, said David Inman, Cheyenne Police Department public information officer.
Quiles and Martinez were arrested without incident when the chase ended in the 500 block of First Street.
