CHEYENNE – Wingspan, Laramie County Community College’s student media organization, recently earned honors from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s 36th Gold Circle Awards program.

This year, CSPA received more than 7,000 news and magazine entries in 86 categories. These entries came from publications produced by students at colleges, universities and secondary schools throughout the United States and abroad.

The LCCC Wingspan staff received third place for Editorial Page Design for the piece “Cheyenne Frontier Days Wants to Offer Variety in Music.”

The Wingspan team also received five certificates of merit:

  • Design portfolio: Jaque Mead
  • Editorial writing: Wingspan staff, “Restoring Trust Requires a Fresh Start”
  • Headline writing: Christopher Edwards, Jacque Mead and Rebekah Sweet
  • Informational graphics: Debbie Martinez, “LCCC Bookstore vs Amazon”
  • Photo story: Rebekah Sweet and Courtney Waltson, “Pink Powerhouses”
