CHEYENNE – Several public events will be held Sunday and Monday in Cheyenne to honor the life of the late civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
An ecumenical service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Second Baptist Church, 2403 Snyder Ave. Pastor Darnell Wheeler Sr. will host the ceremony, the Mass Choir will perform, and Mayor Marian Orr, Police Chief Brian Kozak and Police Chaplain Dan Clark will be in attendance.
The Rev. Hilton McClendon Sr. will be the event’s guest speaker. The event is sponsored by the United Christian Ministers Alliance.
The annual MLK Jr. March will begin at noon Monday, and participants will march from the Cheyenne Depot to the state Capitol.
At 4 p.m. Monday, the annual Youth Salute to MLK Jr. will be held at Second Baptist Church.
