CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Education will meet via videoconference at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24.

The board will first convene as the Wyoming State Board of Vocational Education to hear an update on Wyoming’s Perkins V Plan, which is a 2018 federal law that allocated $1.3 billion to career and technical education. Wyoming’s allocation for 2019-20 is $5,037,372. But the state must submit a four-year plan to receive that money, which is why the state board is meeting Friday to discuss related feedback, and consider action to approve a draft plan for Wyoming.

The board will then reconvene as the Wyoming State Board of Education to discuss the following:

  • Civics education
  • Coordinator search process
  • State’s accountability system
  • Wyoming attorney general’s recent opinion on state standards
  • Teacher evaluations
  • Mathematics extended standards
  • Science performance-level descriptors
  • The board will also take action on the following:
  • Proposed change in graduation requirements at Sweetwater County School District 1
  • Teacher evaluations
  • Per diems for state board members
