CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Police Department has identified Taylor Wardell, 28, and Mandi Hopkins, 28, as suspects in three local robberies and a theft that occurred over the last two months.
On Aug. 14 and 15, the department investigated armed robberies at Silvermine Subs on Vandehei Avenue and Loaf ‘N Jug on East Lincolnway, within a short amount of time.
On Sept. 9, Vino’s Wine and Spirits on Vandehei Avenue was robbed when a person, now identified as Wardell, threatened the clerk with a gun and took money from the store.
On Sept. 27, the Subway on West Carlson Street was the site of an attempted robbery in which the clerk was not in the store when Wardell came in to conduct a robbery, allowing him to access the cash drawer of the restaurant. Nobody was injured during any of these events.
Investigators have determined that Wardell completed all three robberies and stole money from the cash drawer at Subway, according to a news release. When Wardell was arrested, he had a robbery note that read, “Give me the money or I’ll shoot,” in his possession, as well as clothing used in the robberies.
In interviews with CPD detectives, Hopkins admitted to helping Wardell commit several of these robberies by driving a vehicle for him and planning the commission of these crimes, according to the release.
Wardell and Hopkins, both of Cheyenne, were arrested Oct. 1 for unrelated warrants and remain in custody at the Laramie County jail. These cases remain under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
