I am not a hero, not famous. There is not much about me that is exceptional. I am just a regular (old white) guy.
I joined the U.S. Army when I was 17 and turned 19 in Southeast Asia. I think in Trump's heart of hearts, he thinks people who have served our country are a bunch of losers. When called upon, he pulled some bone spurs out of his rear end to dodge his obligations – disgraceful. He did not serve then, and I do not believe he is serving the country now. He is only out to enrich himself and his family.
I am not easily angered, but when I listen to the man in the White House spew his hate and fear, it angers me. When I see Sens. Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell bow and scrape and not disagree with whatever Trump might blurb out of his mouth, it angers me. When he tells American citizens of color to go "back where they came from," it angers me. We can only assume that the people who don't condemn this rhetoric agree with it. They are either cowards, racists or both.
What is happening on the border should shame and sicken every American. These people are just looking for a better and safer life, just as most of our ancestors did. Children of any nation don't deserve to be treated this way. If we in America could not provide for our families or keep them safe, we, too, would be fighting for a new start somewhere else.
He could stop this B.S. with the stroke of a pen, but he is too self-absorbed to do something like that. Mr. Trump is a coward, a liar, a racist and a dictator wannabe. We, the people need to stand up and be counted. The silent majority can no longer be silent. We must speak out against this man and his policies.
