First, let me say that I respect Rodger McDaniel. I attended private Protestant schools since the age of 4. However, I was reading his article titled "Some pastors forget God's unusual love" in the Sunday edition of the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
He uses the word "hate." I found that word mentioned 10 times in the Bible. Here in Cheyenne, I have not witnessed hate. There are many beautiful angels who are kind, considerate and thoughtful, like the neighbor who surprised me with a bouquet of fresh flowers this morning. I can say that a better word to use would be "dislike." Our heavenly father loves all of us, but I'm sure He dislikes some of our thoughts, words and actions. We should never dislike people, only actions.
Rodger also talks about preachers with a Bible in one hand and a sword in the other. I agree with him that there are some pastors that do not practice what they preach, and they do hurt people with words or actions. But there are also those preachers who preach gospel truth, and people don't like to be told when they are on the wrong road.
To date, I'm sure not a person alive has been able to keep the 1st Commandment, which is to love your neighbor as yourself. There are no two heads who think alike, and too many differences of opinion on Bible truth.
On her deathbed, mother told us, "God's gift to yo is your life. What you do with it is your gift to him. Live it well."
