Post 6 wins opener at Pueblo tourney

CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 baseball team held off Las Vegas Durango 8-7 on the first day of the Andenucio Memorial tournament Thursday in Pueblo, Colorado.

Right-hander Max Pedroza worked the final 1⅓ innings to pick up the save. He took the mound with the bases loaded, and walked a batter to help Durango cut Cheyenne’s lead to 8-7. He struck out the next hitter to get out of the sixth.

Pedroza got the game’s final two outs with runners on first and second.

Sophomore left fielder Jackson Hesford was 3 for 3 with two doubles and five RBIs. Pedroza was 2 for 4.

Post 6 (24-9) faced Pueblo Azteca late Thursday. The game ended after the Wyoming Tribune Eagle’s print deadline.
