ROCK SPRINGS – Boy Scouts of America Troop 86 honored new Eagle Scouts Cameron May, Soren Christensen and Alex Alvey on Oct. 10 at Young at Heart Senior and Community Center in Rock Springs.
The program, conducted by Logan May, began with an opening prayer by BreAnn Alvey and an opening flag ceremony by the troop. Guest speaker Nathan Riddle spoke of the values taught in scouting and led the audience in singing “On My Honor” by Burl Ives.
Scoutmaster Dustin Conover presented the eagle pins. May, Christensen and Alvey then presented eagle mom and eagle dad pins to their parents and mentor pins to the leaders they felt had helped them the most.
May gave a mentor pin to his former scoutmaster in Troop 85 Neal Asper.
Christensen and Alvey gave mentor pins to Riddle.
All three gave mentor pins to Vera Trefethen. Trefethen gave the Scoutmaster’s Minute. She told of meeting a clerk in a store who said when he was a boy, he had one more merit badge to earn in order to complete his eagle. As an adult, he regrets not doing it.
Trefethen congratulated the new Eagle Scouts and said they will never have that regret.
The meeting ended with a closing flag ceremony and a closing prayer by Andi Christensen. Refreshments were served.
