A teacher was made aware of a weapon on campus and immediately contacted administration and confiscated the weapon during a scheduled evacuation drill at Rock Springs High School on Thursday, Sept. 26. After law enforcement involvement, it was determined that the weapon was a firearm.

ROCK SPRINGS -- On Thursday, Sept. 26, during a scheduled morning evacuation drill at Rock Springs High School, a teacher was made aware of a weapon on campus and immediately contacted administration and confiscated the weapon.
Law enforcement was still on campus due to the evacuation drill and responded immediately by detaining the juvenile. After law enforcement involvement, it was determined that the weapon was a firearm.
Due to the teacher's quick actions, all students and staff are safe.
At this time, the juvenile has been arrested and charges will be filed. Due to the suspect’s age, more information will not be released.
