The Blue Foundation, the foundational giving arm of Cheyenne-based Blue Federal Credit Union, has given one of its largest gifts in the past three years to Rocky Mountain Junior Achievement.

Throughout 2020, COVID-19 restrictions prevented volunteers from teaching JA programs in person in schools. With those parameters in mind, Blue employees worked to find opportunities to make an impact with Colorado and Wyoming students by providing recorded content for the JA Economics for Success program.

The content will be available to schools and teachers on demand throughout both states. The videos are centered around topics such as insurance, credit cards, balanced budgets, and more. Junior Achievement that around 300 students will have the opportunity to learn from the curriculum, a significant increase in exposure compared to a normal in-person setup.

In addition, Blue Federal Credit Union and Blue Foundation have fully funded a $200,000 pledge toward the American Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming – funds that will continue to provide disaster relief for victims of the devastating 2020 Colorado and Wyoming wildfire season.

Blue and the Blue Foundation matched every dollar raised, up to $200,000, which resulted in more than $437,000. All raised funds are designated to stay local to help support people in Colorado and Wyoming communities.

The funds raised will assist with all fire recovery efforts from the entire 2020 fire season. However, three fires are the primary focus: Cameron Peak, East Troublesome and the Mullen Fire.
