With the successful Wyoming Women of Influence Conference and Awards Banquet in their rear-view mirror, the events crew at the Wyoming Business Report is getting ready for their next event: the Cybersecurity Symposium.
Cybersecurity is a growing concern for both business owners and consumers. Both groups are invited to the third annual CyberSecurity Symposium on Oct. 17-18 at the University of Wyoming (coincident with Homecoming, for all you Cowboys out there).
Day one will feature a student-oriented hackathon and career day. Learn more about the hackathon here.
Day two will be a full-day conference on solutions in the cybersecurity world, ending with a networking reception to kick off homecoming weekend. Key speakers for day two include the woman who kicked off Wyoming’s blockchain revolution: Caitlin Long. Educated at the University of Wyoming and Harvard, Long was chairman and president of Symbtion, an enterprise blockchain company, which was named FinTech Company of the Year 2017 by CustodyRisk.
She won the Women in Finance Award for Excellence in Blockchain 2016 by MarketsMedia and was named to the Inc. list of 10 business leaders changing the world through tech in 2016. She’s been a “blockchain evangelist” since 2014 and bitcoin since 2012, serving on Morgan Stanley’s internal blockchain working group.
She has 22 years of corporate finance experience, 1994-2016 (Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Salomon Brothers); Managing Director 2001-2016.. She is a 1994 graduate from Harvard Law School and the Kennedy School of Government. She received her BA from University of Wyoming in 1990.
Another speaker is David Powell, CEO of Federal Business Council, Inc. His areas of expertise include cyber ecosystem development, information sharing and threat intelligence He graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County.
