Selina Hoflund, one of the keynote speakers for the Wyoming Business Report’s Women of Influence conference set for Aug. 16, was on K2 news' Good Morning Wyoming today talking about her Release 2 Thrive book and philosophy.

Her concept, she said was developed after she herself had spent 30 years in corporate America doing human resources work. Her inspiration was literally a bolt from the blue – after her car was struck by lightning and totalled. “I figured it was a sign from God,” she said, that she needed to change her life. “I asked myself, ‘Why should I settle?’” And she reinvented her life from there.

“I watch a lot of people being so unhappy – they go to work and don’t like what they do – and most people don’t recognize that they’re stuck,” she said.

The need for transition can happen to both people and organizations, she explained, and the first step is recognizing and starting to remove those roadblocks – the invisible baggage that everyone carries around in their lives.

Step two is to create a compelling future for yourself or your ogranization. “What does that look like to you?” she asked.

Step three is to focus on what you want. And step four is sustaining the momentum you’ve built up from the other steps – that drive to change your life and not settle.

Attendees to the Women of Influence conference will get to hear the long format version of Hoflund’s process, and will have the opportunity to meet with her during the many networking sessions planned during the day.

The day will wrap up with the Sixth Annual Women of Influence Awards, which will honor women of Wyoming working in ten industries, plus a mentor of the year and the best company for women to work for. This year there were a record-breaking number of nominees, 121, and the dinner will introduce attendees to all of them.

Tickets for the day, the dinner or both are still available here. Please note that early bird ticket prices will increase at 8 a.m., on Monday, August 13. After that time, the ticket price will increase by $25.
