CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East senior Kaliff Guevara won his second consecutive state championship in the triple jump with jump of 46 feet, 4¼ inches at the Boys Indoor State Track meet Saturday in Gillette.
Guevara also placed fourth in the long jump (21-3). Ethan Brinkman notched a fifth place finish in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches) for East. Guevara, Mario Cummings, Ian Garcia, and Levi Smith placed second in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay with a time of 3:44.78.
The Thunderbirds finished eighth with a team score of 38.50 points.
Jacob Frentheway notched two top-five finishes for Cheyenne Central to help the Indians finish second with a team score of 67 points. Frentheway finished third in the 3200-meter run (10:19.45) and fourth in the 1600 run (4:39.27).
Will Monger took fourth in the 55-meter dash for the Indians (6.65) and Tristan Knueppel placed third in the 800-meter run (2:04.31). Bridger Brokaw added a fourth place finish in the 3200-meter run (10:19.79).
Richard Prescott took fourth in the 55-meter hurdles for Central (8.11 seconds) and fourth in triple jump (41-10). The relay team of Jason Frentheway, Jacob Frentheway, Brayden Kivisto and Knueppel timed in at second in the 4x800 meter relay (8:26.20).
Kaleb Gissendanner took sixth in the 3200-meter run for Cheyenne South (10:28.07). Wade Pollock finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 49-5¼ for the Burns-Pine Bluffs team. Sheridan won the meet with a score of 142.
