Cheyenne Central senior Sydney Morrell capped her high school career by winning the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, and placing fourth in the 400-meter dash at the Class 4A state track and field meet in Casper. Her times in the 800 and 3,200 were the fastest of the meet regardless of class.

Cheyenne East senior Jaylyn Christensen went 6-for-7 from the plate in East's two-game set against crosstown rival Cheyenne Central last week. She also pitched all six innings of game one, five of which were scoreless.

Cheyenne Central sophomore Karson Tempel won triple jump and long jump at the Mountain Range Mustang Invitational on Saturday in Westminster, Colorado. Her distance of 38 feet, 4¼ inches reset the school record she set the week before.

Cheyenne Central junior pitcher Katie Hinz recorded 17 strike outs on 142 pitches to help lead the Indians to a 4-3 win over the visiting Laramie Plainsmen on Saturday. She allowed just three runs on three hits during the game, as well.

Cheyenne East senior Trista Stehwien went 10-for-11 from the plate during Cheyenne East's three-game set to open the season this past weekend. She also drove in nine runs and recorded an on-base percentage of .917 to earn WyoSport's Prep Athlete of the Week honors.

Cheyenne East junior guard Bradie Schlabs averaged 25.5 points, 7 rebounds, 5.5 steals and five assists per game to help the Lady Thunderbirds win at Sheridan and Natrona County. That included a steal and game-winning layup at Sheridan.

This week's WyoSports Prep Athlete of the Week is Burns senior Rylee Jo Ward. Rylee is a three sport athlete who loves to compete in basketball, track and volleyball. She will be attending Chadron State College in the fall to play volleyball.
