Sixers sweep doubleheader against Scottsbluff on the road

CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 baseball team won both games of a doubleheader Sunday in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Cheyenne took the opener from the Zephyrs 16-0, and won the back end of the twin bill 8-0.

The Sixers had designated hitter Ethan Reisdorfer go 4 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Center fielder Wyatt Haught went 3 for 4 with three RBI. Shortstop Colter McAnelly, first baseman Zach Costopoulos and second baseman Aaron Gallant all had two hits. Gallant drove home four runs, while McAnelly had a double and two RBI.

Leadoff-hitting third baseman Mason Tafoya also had a double.

Cheyenne used five pitchers for an inning apiece. The Sixers gave up just two hits, while striking out seven hitters.

In Game 2, Tafoya, McAnelly and Costopoulos all had two hits. Costopoulos had a double and four RBI, while McAnelly drove home two runs. Catcher Hayden Swaen added a double.

Cheyenne once again used one pitcher per inning, holding Scottsbluff to just one hit while striking out seven.

Post 6 plays at Laramie at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
