CHEYENNE – Cheyenne Extreme under-18 fastpitch softball team split its first two games of the Wyoming state tournament Friday in Laramie.
Cheyenne dropped a 5-4 contest to Gillette in the first game and routed Laramie 15-0 in the second.
Extreme (22-13-1) took a 1-0 lead off an RBI double from Taylor Stehwien in the first inning against Gillette, but the Blue Jays rallied with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take their first lead of the day.
Cheyenne answered with three in the second and led 4-3 before Gillette walked off with the win in the bottom of the sixth.
Jade Reinhardt, Alexis Naughton and Brittney Lopez also picked up hits for Extreme.
Ariana Galicia smacked a three-run single to open up the scoring against Laramie. Galicia, who struck out six, also notched her 10th win of the season.
Cheyenne recorded six doubles and a triple from Michaela Moorehouse. Moorehouse, Jordyn Wright, Naughton, Reinhardt and Janey Adair posted two hits each in the win.
