LARAMIE – The University of Wyoming added reinforcements this week at two positions with significant off-season departures.

Snow College quarterback Evan Svoboda committed to the Cowboys on Wednesday, with Michigan State linebacker Cole DeMarzo doing the same Saturday morning.

Both should compete for immediate playing time, with 2021 starting quarterbacks Levi Williams and Sean Chambers transferring out, and Butkus Award finalist Chad Muma entering the NFL draft.

Originally a two-star prospect out of Red Mountain High in Mesa, Arizona, Svoboda completed 6 of 12 passes for 28 yards and an interception during his only season at Snow. He threw for 1,286 yards and 13 touchdowns with a 56% completion rate in seven games as a high school senior.

DeMarzo, a three-star prospect out of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, redshirted in 2020 before appearing in one game for Michigan State last fall.

He was a Class 4A first team all-state selection at defensive back as a senior, and was South Carolina’s top linebacker prospect in the class of 2020, according to ESPN.com.
